REDEMPTION....

**So I had typed up this post on Monday, and for some reason it didn't post on the blog! I guess it's a little late to be talking about Sunday's games on Thursday, but this post is dedicated to my sole football post reader, my brother-in-law...lol**

OMG...I don't know how I'm alive after yesterday's games! Both of them were nail biters that came down to field goals. Needless to say, I'm more than excited about the Pats game. I really didn't think we were gonna win that one! Granted the Ravens defense is monstrous, and Ray Lewis is just downright scary, but Brady's performance was average at best. No TDs (Brady didn't have a passing TD for the first time in 36 games!), 2 INT and an overall poorly executed game. The Pats defense however, really stepped it up! How's that for being the worst defense in the league! As Brady said it himself, the defense really won this one for the Pats, especially in the last few minutes of the game. I almost had a heart attack when Sterling Moore knocked out the TD pass caught and then dropped by Lee Evans (which was later confirmed by the replay assistant, just in case anyone still has doubts!). Seriously, I don't think my heart has ever beat faster! And then with the FG attempt by Cundiff, I was seriously about to faint. My little brother (who's also a Pats fan) had his eyes closed and he was whispering "please God, make him miss the FG, please please please" And since I said to him defiantly, "Umm you think he's gonna miss a FG from 32 yards? This is the AFC championship boy!" And lo and behold, that's exactly what happened! Both of us jumped up so high I thought I was gonna break my neck! What an exciting finish to a not-so-exciting game!

PS...If I were you Cundiff, I would leave town for a little bit. Just saying.

Now moving on to the Giants and Niners game. Now I don't know if ya'll remember Superbowl 2007. The Pats were going for a perfect season, and rumor has it, they had even copyrighted the term "19-0" which indicates a perfect season of winning 19 games, and losing zero. Of course that didn't happen, thanks to the Giants. I was living in NY at the time, and I had come home to watch the Superbowl (can't watch the Superbowl without my brother!). After the Pats lost, I was distraught...AND I had to return to a celebrating city...talk about adding salt to my wounds. It was VERY painful. So, with all of that said, you can imagine why I would want the Giants to lose. And lose badly. Like the Broncos. Or lose in a close game, so its THAT much more painful. Like the Ravens. Or the Saints. And of course, that didn't happen either. Thanks to a solid defense and a flimsy Kyle Williams, the Giants are now headed to the Superbowl, for a rematch. I'm scared. I'm nervous. The Patriots are an explosive team offensively, but the defense is flaky (even though they won the last game for us). The Giants however, are strong defensively, and even stronger offensively. I don't know what's gonna happen next Sunday, but I'm willing to bet 5 pairs of shoes (hehe) it's going to be a close game! Tom Brady and Robert Kraft haven't been able to watch the highlights from that fateful Superbowl, but I'm Brady will have to at some point to study the Giant defense. I don't know about Brady, but I sure as hell am not ready yet. The only way to get some closure for us fans is to beat the Giants next Sunday. Beat the hell outta them! GO PATS!!!

PS...The next two weeks are going to painfully long. Just saying.

Pick a wedgy..hehe

I just love, love, love how fashion comes around full circle every 20-30 years or so. Case-in-point, wedges. I used to look at old pictures of my mom, and laugh at her clothes/hair/shoes. Flared pants (oh wait, that was MY DAD wearing them!!), big hair, neon colored blouses, and of course, wedges. And now, 30 years or so later, we see all of those things on runways across the world. It took me a while to like wedges, since I gave my mother such a hard time about them. But I did come around, and now I absolutely love them! I can't wear them, because let's be honest, I'd probably look like a gigantor hungrily roaming the streets (I AM awfully hungry today hehe). In my opinion, if you're gonna rock wedges, please don't wear the dinky little ones with 1" heels. Go all out, the higher the better! And how cute are the leopard print ones? Pair them with something simple, like denim shorts with a white tee, or skinny jeans with a red top. Anything leopard with anything red is just sexay!

Ok so here are some cute wedges I found on the interwebs...check out 6pm.com, they're having a great sale on pumps as well, some are like, 11 bucks!

Friday sales...and some free stuff :)

Hey guys! It's Fridayyyyyyyyyyy! Although, doesn't really mean anything for me, I still have work tomorrow :( BUT, I will not let my misery take away from the excitement of the weekend. So I was thinking, why don't we, unanimously, as the people of the world, make it a rule to have Friday-Sunday off? I'm clearly not an economist, but seriously, what's the worst that could happen?

I'm excited about this weekend for two reasons.
1.) It's the playoffs, duh. The Patriots are playing the Ravens, should be a good game. Looking forward to it!
2.) I get to spend Sundays with my husband. I look forward to that every week, but we might make this Sunday a museum day, go see some of the museum awesomeness DC has to offer. Or we'll just sleep in, wake up at like 2, eat and watch TV all day. Hmmm...the latter sounds fantastic, don't you think? ;)

 Anyyyywhooooo....who wants free stuff??

FREE FREE FREE!!

--Bath and body works 2oz pink chiffon lotion. I think you have to "like" the page on Facebook, or try to see if this link works: Pink Chiffon

--Free Fribble (12 oz milkshake) at Friendly's, tomorrow (Jan 21, 2012) from 12-5pm. Print coupon here

--Have you guys heard of Mario Badescu?  It's a skin care line, based in NYC. They have celebrity clients like Jennifer Aniston, Charlize Theron, Ashley Judd, Eva Longoria, Oprah, Gwyneth Paltrow, and P Diddy (or whatever his "new" name is now). You can either email them or call them about any skin issues, and an actual skin consultant emails you back with product recommendations and routine care stuff you can do for your skin. ANDDD the best part is, they send you free samples! I just got mine today, they sent me 5 different things! Apparently the "drying lotion" for overnight pimple relief is magical. I can't wait to try it! Well...hopefully I never have to try it, but we all know THAT ain't gon' happen, is it?

I'll keep you updated on any other free things I come across. Until then, have a wonderful weekend, and GOOOOOOOOO PATSSSSSSSSSS!!!

PS: Serious note: I read this article on CNN about child slaves in the chocolate industry. It makes me sick just thinking about how oblivious we are about what goes on in the world. Here we are, living comfortable, happy lives, completely unaware of the hell these little babies are going through (yes, anyone under 10 is a baby to me!). Their lives are consumed by endless work hours in dangerous work environments. When we look at our scars, most of them are from happy childhood memories. They remind you of falling from a bike when you first learned how to ride one, getting hit in the face by a basketball when you were distracted, dropping a sparkler on your foot on 4th of July. But for these kids, their scars will always be reminiscent of the arduous and oppressive lives they've lived. And the saddest part it, they probably don't even know any better. They've never gone to school, played in a park/field, tossed a ball around, had ice-cream...hell, I don't even think they've ever had a good night's sleep! These kids don't deserve the nightmare they're in, and I feel a personal obligation to do something about it. I didn't know where to start, so I emailed CNN asking them how we can help. I will keep you posted, but in the mean time, please help me create awareness about this issue by emailing CNN/posting on facebook/twitter etc. I usually don't like using quotes, sleep on this one tonight...
